Almost Done!

We are about done the school year, but we still have a lot of work to do! Civics and Economics Students have covered everything they need to know to be successful to the Civics and Econ. SOL test May 14. Students are required to study at least 8 times for 15 minutes using the SOL Review Packet given to them. Parents/Guardians must sign the bright colored half sheet proving that the students have studied- this is a homework grade. In class, students will review up until the 14th on topics students are still struggling with. Please let me know if you have any questions about the review process or ways all students can be successful.

Economics: Business Organizations and Government Involvement

Throughout April, students will be learning about different types of businesses, circular flow of economic activity, types of financial institutions, the global economy, and how the US government intervenes in the economy. Students will practice real life business skills and learn how risky it can be to start a business, but how rewarding it can be if you are successful.

Economics!

After all of the snow days, we are finally ready for economics! There are 3 units of study we will cover: economics marketplace, business organizations, and the governments role in the economy. We will begin by looking at some basic economic principles like supply and demand, opportunity costs, production/consumption, the factors of production, and different types of economies. Throughout the 3 economics units students will complete a booklet of important economic terms. This booklet is very important to student success in these units and should not get lost!

Finishing Civics in February

This month students will be learning about the Judicial branch of government, looking at both the National and State court systems. Students will learn the difference between Criminal and Civil Law and will examine the judicial process (like how a trial runs). Students will also study for and take a midterm covering all Civics material before we move on to the Economics portion of the class.
